Eindhoven – The role of the designer was the theme behind this year’s Design Academy Eindhoven graduate show. The show, a focal point of Dutch Design Week, saw designers addressing issues such as food, health, biodiversity, humanity and the balance of work and play.
‘It’s about framing and exploring the different roles that design can play, and looking at design as a language,’ says Anne Mieke Eggenkamp, chairwoman of the executive board at Design Academy Eindhoven.
A highlight was Rian Crabtree’s Anger Cosmetics, a series of provocative photographs of different make-up effects that explore the darker side of the beauty industry.
LS:N Global will report from Dutch Design Week for the rest of this week. Next week, look out for our show review in our Micro Markets section.
