Stockholm – Home furnishings company Ikea has released a book that tells the story of the brand, from when its first store opened in 1958 to the present day.
Ikea, The Book examines the iconic brand’s products, the designers who created them, such as Hella Jongerius, and the impact they have had on the brand’s aesthetic through the years.
By exploring the brand’s history, author Staffan Bengtsson, who is also editor of design magazine Svensk Form, not only reveals the secrets behind the seminal Swedish brand, but also how Scandinavian furniture has become a byword for mass-market functional design.
To connect with brand-weary, savvy consumers, who are only ever a click away from competitors, smart companies are telling the story of their brands. For more compelling examples, read our recent Innovate reports about Rapha and Union Cycle Works.
