New York- Watch brand Ikepod has released a video documenting the production process of its new hourglasses.
The Hourglass collection by Australian designer Marc Newson was produced at the Glaskeller factory in Basel. Each hourglass is hand-blown from a single piece of borosilicate glass and contains, in place of sand, millions of coated stainless-steel nanoballs.
The above video highlights the highly skilled manufacturing process, and hand-made quality of the final products.
LS:N Global has previously reported on designers such as Studio Glithero who are using process and craftsmanship to appeal to consumers. For more information, see our recent Revivalism report.
