Russia – A new name-and-shame app developed by Russian magazine The Village has been launched to combat the country’s inconsiderate parkers.
The Android app, called Parking Douche, lets users take a photograph of a badly parked vehicle. Parking Douche recognises the car model, colour and number plate and streams the information to live banner ads that are targeted through local IP addresses, so that people who are near the poorly parked car become aware of it.
The disruptive banner ad ‘parks’ on the web browser and will only go away if the user clicks on ‘share’ and complains about the car on Facebook.
Parking Douche is a humorous take on Prohibition Culture, as it acknowledges the concerns of consumers and addresses them in a tongue-in-cheek way.
