Atlanta – A sanctuary in the South is now open to welcome weary travellers. W Atlanta – Downtown, the newest W Hotel in the city, was designed by Canadian design firm burdifilek to arouse thoughts of a verdant retreat.
Nature-inspired drama is in no short supply: rich walnut tones and handsome Makassar wood invite and envelop, while the hotel lobby shelters a huge tree-like mobile made of hundreds of metal leaves floating above a charcoal stone floor. In the Living Room bar, a feature of W properties worldwide, bentwood screens and curved seating encourage guests to feel at home in the urban jungle. These intimate nooks and crannies provide space for relaxation and quiet conversation in the vein of our Revived Grandeur trend – though the shimmering teal and aqua shades put to use here suggest cool watering-hole oasis rather than grand-hotel glamour.
It may be a jungle out there but, in Atlanta, the lion sleeps tonight.
