Paris – Louis Vuitton has released Craftsmen on Wheels, a short film in black and white that highlights the brand’s fixed polo bikes, the latest in its sport objects series.
Bike polo has been played on grass surfaces for more than a century as an alternative to the costly version played on horses. But the game has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with enthusiasm strongest in London. As interest in fixed-gear bikes has grown, urban youth have adapted the game to whatever hard surfaces are available.
In the video, Louis Vuitton and director Jonathan Leder take the street adaptation of an upper-class pastime back to its luxury roots. Although not for sale, the bikes are working prototypes and will be displayed alongside merchandise in selected Louis Vuitton stores.
