New York – The MoMA Design Store, in collaboration with electronics open-source library littleBits and Brooklyn-based design studio Labour, has dedicated its New York store windows to feature larger-than-life, moveable objects.
Retailers are looking for ways to appeal to Generation I children who are used to tablet and digital devices, and want engaging and immersive experiences at all times, as we reported in our I-Tail microtrend.
Created from littleBits technology – tiny circuit boards that snap together with magnets – the idea is that big objects are constructed from tiny pieces. The result is an exciting presentation of moving objects displayed in the windows.
The pieces include a big shark, a cyclist turning a Ferris wheel and tiny people pulling up a giant. The display is designed to demonstrate the endless creation possibilities of littleBits technology.
