London – Fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic has collaborated with fashion film website SHOWstudio to create a 3D rendering of Barbie’s dream house.
Dark and moody, it is a far cry from Barbie’s Malibu property. Ilincic, who trained as an architect before entering the fashion world, created a bold, graphic concrete building with hints of pink and a virtual silver birch wood roof. The aesthetic of stark and sharp lines reflects a 21st-century Barbie, who has had 10 dream houses built for her in her lifetime.
‘Working in 3D has enabled us to push the boundaries of reality, using impossible materials and defying gravity to create a striking and dynamic outcome fuelled by Roksanda’s imagination,’ says Jon Emmony, digital art director at SHOWstudio.
The virtual imagining of Barbie’s dream house is in tune with Generation I children, who are immersed in a digital era. The bold visual cues and colour palette of greys with spikes of neon pink follow our Futurist Montage design direction.
