New York – American Vogue has begun a new series of miniature films, Vogue Original Shorts, featuring the magazine’s cover stars playing themselves in original narrative shorts.
In recent years, magazines have been adding video content to their online offerings because they are engaging and easily shareable, but more often than not these fashion films are little more than moving pictures. Vogue’s latest series is differentiating itself by focusing on the story rather than the fashion.
On its website, Vogue describes the monthly series as a slew ‘of surprising, revealing, and thoroughly modern miniature films that feature the most beguiling women. Cool and charming, it’s scripted content at its best.’
As video becomes the main online media that people consume, brands will have to construct new narratives to keep them engaged. For more examples of print magazines embracing online video platforms, read our recent Insight on the subject.
